Heritage Figure

Guo Xiangtai, Founder of the PingLe Guo School of Orthopedics

Guo Xiangtai, courtesy name Zhihe, was a figure of the Qianlong and Jiaqing reigns in the Qing dynasty. From an early age he was devoted to learning and painstakingly mastered the art of bone-setting, tirelessly honing his skills through diligent practice and careful study. Whenever patients came to him, a single touch would bring relief—thus establishing him as the founding patriarch of the “PingLe Guo School of Bone-Setting.” Since its inception, the school has been renowned throughout the region for its superb medical expertise and noble professional ethics, and it has upheld the ancestral precept: “No distinction is made between royalty and nobility above or among vagrants and beggars below; all who come seeking treatment are welcomed without exception.”
