Pingle Guo's bone setting originated in Pingle Village, Pingle Town, Mengjin County, Luoyang City in 1793, with a history of more than 220 years and has been passed down for eight generations. In 2008, "Pingle Guo's Bone Setting Method" was included in the list of Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage; in 2013, "Pingle Guo's Bone Setting Method" was approved by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine as one of the first batch of the National Bone Setting Schools. In April 2019, it was approved as the second round of construction project units of the national academic school of Chinese medicine inheritance studio; in June 2019, "Pingle Guo's bone setting Method" was selected as an excellent case of national non-traditional heritage representative project protection practice by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

First generation founder.

Guo Xiangtai, the word Zhihe, was born during the Qianlong and Jiaqing Dynasties of the Qing Dynasty. He was a good student since his childhood and devoted himself to the art of bone setting medicine. Since its establishment, he has become famous in his hometown for his exquisite medical skills and noble medical ethics, and has established the ancestral motto of "accepting all those who come to us for medical treatment, regardless of royalty and nobility or beggars".

The second generation of inheritors.

Guo Shuxin, character Dunfu (1820-1889), founded the century-old business "Yiyuantang" and created the "Guo's Family Motto", which has been passed down from generation to generation.

In the first year of Guangxu, Zuo Zongtang led a western expedition to recover Xinjiang, and on his way to Xinjiang, he accidentally fell off his horse and broke a bone. After examining Zuo Zongtang's condition, Guo Shuxin gave him a manual reset, supplemented by ancestral medicine, which was used internally and externally. Later, Zuo Zongtang successfully recaptured Xinjiang, and the Guo family's fame increased greatly.

Guo Guantian, the word Cun Gong (birth date unknown), studied medicine with his father since childhood.

In 1901, when Cixi and her party returned to the capital from Xi'an via Luoyang, they were disturbed by unknown armed forces, and one of the beile was accidentally injured and fractured. After returning to the capital, he reported his injury to Cixi, who wrote the word "Good and Well" in her own handwriting and gave him a plaque, and gave Guo Guantian a fifth-ranking title.

The American missionary Henry's son had an infection after breaking his leg in a horse race, and after many consultations, he had to have his leg amputated. This story was later recorded on Guo Hsien San's tombstone: "The son of a beautiful doctor in Zhengzhou fell off his horse and lost his bone. The doctor said, 'China's best technique, the Western method dare not hope!

Guo Jingxing, whose name is Can Ruo (1895-1950), was the son of Guo Bingsan. He practiced medicine with his father. Through his father's words and deeds, the young man has become a famous doctor and is outstanding. On the basis of the elder's techniques, he summarized the bone setting techniques of "swing percussion, whirl rolling, and rotation lifting".

Gao Yunfeng (1906-1976) married Mr. Guo Canruo in 1926. In 1930, Mr. Guo Canruo was unfortunately seriously ill. He bravely broke the ancestral motto of the Guo family that "men should not be passed on to women, and inside should not be passed on to outside". He passed on Pingle Guo's bone setting skills to his wife, Mr. Gao Yunfeng, thus achieving the legendary life of Mr. Gao Yunfeng and rewriting the fate of Pingle Guo's bone setting.

In 1952, Mr. Gao Yunfeng and his son Guo Weihuai presented the ancestral secret recipe to the country and the people; In 1956, Gao Yunfeng was invited to attend the second session of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and was received by Chairman Mao and Premier Zhou. Chairman Mao encouraged her to "take more apprentices and serve the people well". In the same year, she established the first public bone setting hospital of traditional Chinese medicine in China, Luoyang Special Bone Setting Hospital (now renamed Luoyang Bone Setting Hospital of Henan Province). In 1958, she established the first public undergraduate university of traditional Chinese medicine, Henan Pingle Bone Setting College, In 1959, Luoyang Orthopedic Research Institute (Now renamed Henan Orthopedic Research Institute), the first bone injury research institute in China, was established, which enabled Pingle Guo's bone setting to achieve the rudiment of the integration of medicine, education, research and production in the 1950s. Guo Weihuai (1929-2015), the chief Chinese medicine doctor, the lifelong honorary president of Luoyang Orthopedic Hospital in Henan Province, the representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage "TCM Orthopedic Therapy", the winner of the first "Bethune Medal" in the field of traditional Chinese medicine, and the "national medical model". He studied medicine at an early age and went to hospital independently at the age of 16. Since 1956, she has assisted her mother Gao Yunfeng to establish the Luoyang Orthopedic Hospital (now renamed as Luoyang Orthopedic Hospital in Henan Province), Henan Pingle Orthopedic Institute, and Henan Pingle Orthopedic Institute (now renamed as Henan Orthopedic Institute). They are pioneers of higher education in the modern orthopedic and traumatology of Chinese medicine in China, and are the epitome of Guo's Orthopedic in Pingle.

Since 1983, Guo Weihuai has been invited by the Central Health Bureau to Beijing for many times to diagnose and treat many central leaders. In 1987, Guo Weihuai was invited to Beijing to diagnose and treat back pain for President Li Xiannian. He took Chinese medicine orally, used Pingle Guo's Bone Setting Massage and Muscle Activating Massage externally, and cooperated with acupoint massage. In only seven days, he had a remarkable effect. It was famous at home and abroad.

Guo Weihuai has been a doctor for more than 70 years. He has treated countless patients. He has been awarded as a representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage of "bone setting therapy of traditional Chinese medicine", one of the first batch of national famous and elderly TCM experts, and a "national medical model". Guo Yansi (1948~1994) was the seventh generation descendant of Guo's bone setting in Pingle. He has studied medicine since he was a child. He has worked in the Orthopedics Department of Luoyang Second People's Hospital and the Orthopedics Department of Luoyang Orthopedics Hospital in Henan Province for many years. He has rich clinical experience and deep academic attainments. As one of the first batch of national famous TCM doctors and the sixth generation descendant of Pingle Guo's Bone Setting,He is a disciple of Guo Weihuai, and is good at treating various bone injuries with manipulation and treating various traumatology syndromes with traditional Chinese medicine. He is the author of Pingle Zhenggu and has published many papers.

Guo Yanjin studied medicine at an early age, read classics well, learned from her grandmother Gao Yunfeng and her father Guo Weihuai, and practiced medicine for more than 50 years. He is currently the director of the Research and Treatment Center for Non operative Treatment of Osteoarthritis in Luoyang Orthopedic Hospital of Henan Province, the director of Pingle Orthopedic Research Office, the director of the "Pingle Guo's Orthopedic School Inheritance Studio", the deputy director of the Orthopedic Branch of the Chinese Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the vice-chairman of the Osteoarthritis Professional Committee of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, and the vice-chairman of the Joint Special Committee of the Orthopedic Branch of the Chinese Association for the Advancement of Chinese Medicine Research, Vice Chairman of Health Management Branch of Henan Medical Association.
