Once again, it is the Double Ninth Festival. A free medical consultation event themed “Double Ninth Festival: Longevity and Good Health” was held at the Zhuge Health Center in Yibin District, Luoyang City, organized by the Guo Jiayi Volunteer Service Team of the national intangible cultural heritage project “PingLe Guo’s Orthopedic Manipulation Technique.”

“Double Ninth Festival, Longevity and Well-being” is a special free medical outreach event organized by the PingLe Guo Family Bone-Setting Volunteer Service Team, led by Guo Jiayi, to honor and care for seniors during the Double Ninth Festival. The initiative aims to express gratitude for the hard work of previous generations through meaningful, community-based engagement; to focus on the bone health of older adults; to provide them with professional, compassionate bone-health services; and to encourage them to prioritize daily bone-health maintenance while promoting knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine culture.

The autumn weather is crisp and cool, yet bathed in bright sunshine. Early that morning, expert physicians and nurses from the Guo Jiayi Volunteer Service Team of the PingLe Guo School of Bone Setting were already on hand at the Zhuge Health Center in Yibin District. Elderly patients who had received notification and wished to consult about bone-related conditions or concerns also lined up in an orderly manner under the guidance of on-site staff.

On-site physicians patiently inquired about the elderly patients’ physical condition and medical history, accurately identified the extent of bone damage and outlined clear directions for improvement, and then provided professional massage therapy to relieve pain for those suffering from bone-related ailments. At the same time, the doctors offered personalized recommendations on daily exercise and diet, emphasizing that both bone health and bone damage are the long-term results of specific habits—just as it takes time for ice to form three feet thick; therefore, it is crucial to adhere to proper exercise routines, avoid rushing, and make gradual adjustments. For patients with more severe conditions, the physicians also advised them to seek comprehensive, systematic rehabilitation treatment at a hospital.

In addition to clinical consultations, the nurses from the Guo Jiayi Volunteer Service Team brought specialized equipment to provide free blood pressure measurements and ear acupressure with beans for patients in need. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, each of the body’s five zang organs and six fu organs has a corresponding reflex point on the ear. When the body is ill, these points often exhibit specific reactions on the auricle. Stimulating these reflex points and acupoints can help prevent and treat disease; such points are known as ear acupoints. Ear acupressure with beans is a health-preserving technique that helps unblock the body’s meridians, promote blood circulation and dissipate blood stasis, improve microcirculation, and restore normal function to overactive or dysfunctional internal organs.

The nurse patiently educated everyone about ear acupressure with seeds while also providing blood pressure measurements and ear acupressure services.

On the Double Ninth Festival, may we enjoy lasting health and well-being. The free medical consultation event organized by the Guo Jiayi Volunteer Service Team of the Pingle Guo School of Orthopedics concluded successfully amid widespread gratitude and recognition. Moving forward, this service team will extend its reach to more communities, serving those in need and standing as guardians of people’s skeletal health.

The Guo Family Orthopedic Clinic of Pingle sincerely wishes everyone a happy and healthy Double Ninth Festival!
