At 3:00 p.m. on August 26, the book-signing event for “The Talking Little Bone,” the children’s science picture-book series on traditional Chinese medicine for bone health published by the China Press of Traditional Chinese Medicine and organized by the Xinhua Bookstore in Luoyang’s Xigong District, was held as scheduled in the Grand Lecture Hall on the first floor of the Xinhua Bookstore in Luoyang.

Wang Qiu-hua, chief editor of the China Press of Traditional Chinese Medicine, along with the picture-book author—Professor Guo Yan-xing, a national-level representative inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage “Pingle Guo’s Orthopedic Manipulation Technique”—and her disciple, Professor Li Feng, were invited to attend as guest speakers.

At the event, Editor-in-Chief Wang QiuHua stated that this is the country’s first popular science picture book series dedicated to children’s bone health, making it of great significance. “A nation is strong when its youth are strong,” she said. She expressed her hope that parents will learn more about children’s bone health so they can help their children develop healthy bones and build a brighter future.
Professor Guo Yanxing and her student, Professor Li Feng, also explained the original intention behind the book: to use professional bone-nourishing knowledge to nurture the next generation, enabling them to grow up healthy and strong. In addition, drawing on the characteristics of each season, they shared with the parents and children in attendance key principles and important precautions for bone health.

Following this, Teacher Guo Bing provided a clear, engaging, and easy-to-understand explanation of daily cervical spine exercises and commonly used acupoints for children. Parents and children in attendance listened attentively and actively practiced along.
During the Q&A session, parents eagerly vied to ask the experts about a wide range of issues related to children’s development, and Professors Guo Yanxing and Li Feng patiently provided detailed answers one by one. Notably, one young participant who regularly practices street dance often experienced elbow pain; he approached the professors with the maturity of an adult to seek advice on this issue. Professor Guo Yanxing explained that since his bones are still in the growth phase, he should avoid overexertion and ensure that his training is appropriate and moderate.
Due to time constraints, the professors were unable to address each parent’s questions and concerns individually; however, they emphasized that the “Talking Little Bones” picture book series covers a wide range of issues related to children’s development, and that parents are encouraged to explore and learn from it.
Many parents said that such books are extremely useful, purchased them on the spot, asked Professor Guo Yanxing to sign their copies, and posed for commemorative photos.
With the group photo taken, the book-signing event came to a successful close. Even after the event ended, several parents continued to ask the professor various questions, reluctant to leave for quite some time.
