Unafraid of bitter cold, wind and rain, or scorching heat, they have steadfastly held their ground day and night for decades. At every intersection in the city, you can find them—dressed in their imposing police uniforms, executing crisp, upright hand signals that give us peace of mind as we go about our daily lives. These are our city’s traffic police officers.

At 9:00 a.m. on the 12th, expert physicians, specialized nurses, and relevant staff from the Guo Jiayi Volunteer Service Team of the national-level intangible cultural heritage “Pingle Guo’s Orthopedic Manipulation Technique” visited the Third Detachment of the Luoyang Traffic Police Corps to carry out a volunteer service activity themed “Safeguarding Traffic Order, Focusing on Bone Health.”

Almost all the traffic police officers providing on-site consultations had more than ten years of service. Upon inquiry, we learned that most of their colleagues were currently out on patrol, steadfastly manning critical intersections that serve as the city’s lifelines, leaving them with no time to come in for health-related advice. The officers who did attend generally reported various physical issues stemming from long-term work demands. The doctors patiently took detailed histories and provided tailored exercise and treatment recommendations, while the nurses efficiently measured blood pressure and applied ear-acupressure beads to help alleviate symptoms.

At 11:00 a.m., the free medical consultation event came to a close. Traffic police leaders personally escorted the doctors, nurses, and staff from the Guo Jiayi Volunteer Service Team to the entrance, repeatedly expressing their gratitude. Meanwhile, the physicians from Pingle Guo’s Orthopedic Clinic emphasized that it was simply what they should do: “You serve the city’s traffic; we serve your health.”

In this city, many people selflessly dedicate themselves to their respective roles. Similarly, the PingLe Guo School of Orthopedics has its own mission: to safeguard the skeletal health of the community. The Guo Jiayi Volunteer Service Team will continue to work tirelessly, reaching out to every corner of the city to ensure the physical and skeletal well-being of its residents.

This Sunday at 3:00 p.m., the Luoyang Children’s Library branch located at No. 22 Zhongzhou West Road in Jianxi District, in the Changyuan Building, will host a special public-service lecture on bone health for teenagers. Parents are warmly invited to bring their children to attend!
