Wei Guikang, male, born in October 1938. A native of Binyang, Guangxi, he graduated in 1964 from Henan Pingle Orthopedic Bone-setting College and was assigned to work at Guangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He has served as president of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, president of Guangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and director of the Orthopedics and Traumatology Research Institute. He is currently a third-term National Medical Master, a lifetime professor at Guangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, chief physician, and postdoctoral supervisor.  

A renowned expert in orthopedics and traumatology, a nationally recognized veteran practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine, professor, National Medical Master, and one of the first members of the academic division of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences.  

Currently Executive Vice Chairman of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Orthopedics and Traumatology and Chairman of the World Manual Medicine Federation.

In April 2017 he was awarded the honorary title of National Medical Master.   In December 2020 was elected as China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences one of the first members of the Academy's academic division.

He has served as a standing committee member of the Guangxi CPPCC, director of the Medical and Health Committee, vice chairman of the Guangxi Association for Science and Technology, executive vice president and acting president of the Guangxi Traditional Chinese Medicine Association, and chairman of the Guangxi International Manual Medicine Association. China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine Deputy director of the Orthopedics and Traumatology Professional Committee of the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, vice president of the National Association for Orthopedics and Traumatology Research in Higher Traditional Chinese Medicine Institutions, President of the World Manual Medicine Federation, and Senior Chairman of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Orthopedics and Traumatology. World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies Vice president of the Bone and Traumatology Professional Committee, president of the Hong Kong Academy of Orthopedics and Traumatology in Chinese Medicine, visiting professor at Irkutsk Medical Academy (Russia), visiting professor and associate postgraduate part-time tutor at the Irkutsk Orthopedic Research Institute, honorary president of the American Institute of Pain Medicine, and honorary president of the New York Institute of Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy (USA). National Natural Science Foundation of China He has also served as an expert reviewer for scientific research projects, among other positions.

Professor Wei Guikang has engaged in teaching, clinical practice, and scientific research in traditional Chinese orthopedics and traumatology for fifty years and still diligently cultivates this field. In teaching he has instructed more than 10,000 people including graduate students, undergraduates, junior college students, trainees, and foreign students; in clinical practice he has treated over 200,000 cases of various orthopedic and traumatic conditions; in academic research he integrates Chinese and Western approaches, focusing on spinal traumatic diseases and spine-related disorders while covering multiple areas of orthopedics and traumatology, achieving remarkable and distinctive results.

As chief supervisor, Professor Wei Guikang has admitted a total of 96 master's students, 82 of whom have graduated (all awarded master's degrees): 28 from mainland China, 9 from the Hong Kong SAR, and 45 from foreign countries; he has supervised 4 doctoral students, 3 of whom have graduated with doctoral degrees. He has authored over 80 medical papers and served as editor-in-chief or deputy editor for 25 books. He has received 5 provincial-level scientific and technological achievement awards and holds 3 national patents. He has been invited to Singapore, Australia, Germany, Austria Russia, Japan, the United States, Sweden, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and more than ten other countries, as well as China's Hong Kong and Taiwan regions, to give lectures or participate in academic exchanges.

He was a principal initiator who, together with the academic community, established the Guangxi International Manual Medicine Association (registered in China) and the World Manual Medicine Federation (registered in the United States). They have each held multiple international academic conferences in China and abroad, with participants from more than 30 countries and regions totaling over 3,000 people, having a certain international impact.
